ABBY SCHUHMACHER

BACKGROUND

Abigail “Abby” Schuhmacher is a Senior Paralegal specializing in water law and water rights management. She joined Taggart & Taggart in 2022 as a file clerk and has since advanced to her current role as Senior Paralegal, working closely with attorneys on legal research, case preparation, document drafting, and litigation preparation. She has experience supporting cases before the State Engineer, Nevada District Courts, Federal Court, and the Nevada Supreme Court. Abby is well-versed in title research, real property disputes, water adjudications, and contractual matters.  

EDUCATION

Abby is completing her BA in Legal Studies at William Woods University with a minor in Criminal Justice.  Her academic focus aligns with her professional interest and passion for the law.  In the Fall of 2026, she plans to attend law school to further her expertise in water law and policy. A passion for the environment has continued to lead Abby to seek a career in water law to protect the interest in our most precious natural resources.

Abby has extensive experience in water law and water rights management, assisting in legal matters related to real property disputes, water adjudication, and contractual issues. She is skilled in legal and title research, providing critical support in case preparation and analysis. Additionally, she is involved in policy development and compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks in natural resource management.

PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT

Abby actively collaborates with attorneys on water rights cases and participates in policy discussions related to natural resource management.  She is a member of the Nevada Water Resources Association, where she engages with industry professionals on water policy, conservation, and resource management.  Her involvement allows her to stay informed on emerging issues and best practices in the field.

Outside of her professional work, Abby enjoys snowboarding and taking road trips up and down the west coast.
